One-Stop early voting (AND REGISTRATION)

Early voting is an option here in the state of North Carolina. Please also read the text from the Durham Board of Elections (BOE).

What is early voting?

Early voting allows voters to vote at selected sites before election day. ALL voters have the option to vote early, no excuse is needed. The ballots will not be counted until election night.

Who can use it?

Anyone, you do not need an excuse to vote early.

I am not registered, what can I do?

You can register and then vote at the One-Stop location.

You must bring with you valid indentification showing an address in Durham County. Forms of identification considered acceptable by BOE:

  • a NC driver’s license;
  • a utility bill (telephone, electric, gas, cable, water, sewage);
  • a US government-issued ID or document (passport, military ID, certified documentation of naturalization, vehicle registration, etc.);
  • a student photo ID along with a document from the school showing current address;
  • a paycheck or W-2; a bank statement

* these forms of identification must display an individual’s current address in Durham County.

When can I vote early?

Early voting commences at 9am on Thursday April 17th, and ends at 1pm on Saturday May 3rd.

All voting locations are open 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday, except Saturday May 3rd when they close at 1pm.

You can not early vote on Sunday.

If you use One-Stop early voting

Your vote is cast, do not go to the polls on May 6th.

Absentee ballots

If you will be out of town on May 6th you could also use Absentee Ballot. You can apply for this from March 17th through April 29th. Absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections by May 5th.
